Campsite
The pretty town of Dole, overlooking the River Doubs, is situated about 45 kilometres south-east of the historic city of Dijon. Camping du Pasquier, on the edge of Dole, sits on a wide island in the river. As such, it’s a really peaceful spot, surrounded by water, fields and the town’s main sport pitches. Dole itself is only a 15 minute walk away, with plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. Fortunately, the campsite also has its own small shop, bar, café and compact swimming pool. Further south in Dole is an outdoor swimming complex – Aquaparc Isis – with slides and various pools that can be reached by bus from the town centre (bus number 3). Running alongside the campsite is also an old railway path that is great for walking or cycling into the surrounding area.

Accommodation Options
Camping du Pasquier offers four different types of self-catering accommodation depending on party size. At the top end are three bedroom mobile homes sleeping up to eight people. Far more basic are the ready pitched tents that can sleep four people. All accommodation can be booked online through the campsite’s website.

Transport Links
The main station in Dole is to the north of the centre. With the campsite south of the town, it makes for a bit of a walk between the two – roughly 20-25 minutes. However, the station is very hand for transport links being a stop for some TGV services running between Paris and Lausanne. Local services shuttle back and forth between Dijon and Besançon, both of which make perfect destinations for daytrips.

Directions to Campsite
At the front of Dole railway station is a broad cobbled square. With the main station building behind you, follow the road around to the left and then soon bear right as the road forks. Walk down Avenue Aristide Briand to the very end where you reach a crossroads. Turn left here and continue down Rue du Gouvernement until reaching a large town square that doubles as a car park. Dole Tourist Office is on the left here – good for directions! – but you need to turn right and follow the road down the hill to the river. As soon as you’ve crossed the bridge take the road on the left signposted ‘Camping’. With the canal on one side and sports pitches on the other, the narrow road takes you all the way to the campsite entrance.
