Campsite

Camping Pákász is on the edge of the small town of Gárdony on the shores of Lake Velence. The whole region is a popular holiday destination with tourists drawn to the warm, shallow waters of the lake. The campsite backs onto the lake and has its own beach, while there are also plenty of other opportunities for swimming on the walk from the campsite to Gárdony. In the town centre, there are a range of restaurants and several supermarkets. Although facilities on the shady campsite are fairly basic, it does provide an excellent base for exploring the wider region.

Accommodation Options

This is an interesting campsite in that it has two large accommodation blocks that could be used for school trips in term time. Fortunately, however, there are also other options for couples or families. The campsite has five stone chalets that each have 2-4 beds, as well as three smaller wooden chalets that can sleep 4 people. These accommodation options contain a separate bathroom, television and fridge. It’s important to mention that cooking facilities are shared between all accommodation types in a communal dining area.

Transport Links

The closest station to the campsite is Agárd on the railway line between Budapest and Székesfehérvár. It is less than an hour on the train to Budapest, from where national and international connections are available. From Székesfehérvár, it is also easy to travel onto destinations around Lake Balaton.

Directions to Campsite

It is possible to leave Agárd railway station from either side of the tracks. The most straightforward way is to leave through the subway on the lakeside. Once coming up the lift or the stairs to street level, you need to head straight on in the direction you’re facing. Continue on the same road for around 10 minutes until you reach the entrance to the campsite on the righthand side of the road.
