Campsite

Village Camping delle Rose is a large campsite near the Adriatic coast. Surrounded by pine trees, the site is in lovely wooded setting and crucially for this part of the world contains plenty of shade to escape the mid-summer sun. There are plenty of facilities on site, including a restaurant and bar, as well as a good-sized swimming pool complex that contains two separate open-air pools.

For rail campers, the good news is that there is a decent supermarket only a few minutes from the campsite, ideal for stocking up on most things. Walking towards the centre of Gatteo A Mare, you’ll soon come across a good range of restaurants, particularly pizzerias. A few minutes further on from the centre – and 15 minutes from the campsite – is the town’s sandy beach.

Accommodation Options

The campsite has plenty of self-catering options that sleep from 2 up to 6 people. The most expansive option are the maxi bungalows which consist of two separate bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two singles. A sofa bed in the living room folds down to make the other beds. On a similar scale to the bungalows, there is a selection of apartments that can also be rented on the campsite. Finally, at the more basic end of the spectrum, the campsite offers small ready pitched tents and caravans. Unlike with the fixed accommodation options, guests staying in the tents need to use the main toilet blocks for washing facilities.

Transport Links

Gatteo A Mare railway station is little more than a ten minute walk away. From there, local trains shuttle along the coast between Rimini and Bologna. It should come as little surprise as it’s a major Italian city, but from Bologna trains crisscross the country. It’s easy to head north to Milan and Turin or south to Rome and Naples amongst other destinations.

Directions to Campsite

There is only a single platform at Gatteo. Leave the station, cross back over the railway line at the level crossing then continue walking straight up the road passing a few cafes before the area becomes increasingly residential. At the roundabout at the end of the road turn left down Via Nazionale Adriatica and continue until the next roundabout. Here, you need to carry straight over towards the Conrad supermarket. Just beyond the supermarket on the left, you’ll see the entrance road to the campsite.

Campsite

One of the big advantages of I Bazzari Camping is that it is situated right on the edge of the tourist centre of Cesenatico. The fishing port and the historic canal that runs off it add to the relaxed atmosphere of the town. Restaurants and cafes abound in the area around the canal as well as down towards the seafront. The sandy beaches of the Adriatic Sea are all within easy reach of the town centre and the campsite too.

The campsite itself has plenty of shade from the trees that are dotted throughout. There are no major facilities on site, such as a supermarket and a swimming pool, but then there’s no real need. A decent sized supermarket is only a ten minute walk from the campsite. And then right behind the site is the large Atlantica swimming pool, which contains several open air pools, loads of different slides and places to lie and relax.

The main station in Cesenatico, a mere 12 minutes from the campsite

Directions to Campsite

It’s about 12 minutes on foot from Cesenatico to I Bazzari Camping. On leaving the station turn left until you reach the Eurospin supermarket, where you then turn right walking up a one-way street. You’ll soon come to T-junction at which point you should see a smaller street – Viale Cremona – heading off diagonally from the main road. Upon reaching the first crossroads, turn left and continue straight on until you come to a roundabout. Turn left at the roundabout and almost immediately you should see the entrance to the campsite to the right.
