Campsite
Situated directly on the North Sea coast, the campsite is perfect for a short break or longer holiday. A sandy beach, with opportunities for swimming and windsurfing, is only a few metres away, just the other side of the road opposite the campsite entrance. On the site, there is a restaurant – open for lunches and dinners – as well as hire facilities for bikes and canoes.
The campsite is just south of Harlingen, a historic port and fishing town. Ferries leave from here to the island of Terschelling, a popular daytrip destination. In Harlingen, there is a good range of restaurants and shops. The nearest supermarket – a large Jumbo store – is about 20 minutes away towards the main railway station.

Accommodation Options
This is a large campsite with plenty of pitches for campers. However, rail campers will not be left disappointed either. There are two types of self-catering accommodation available on site: hikers’ cabins and lodges. The cabins are more basic, and guests also need to bring their own sleeping bags for these. Families and those travelling light, therefore, might prefer the lodges. These come as small single bedroom buildings or as larger two bedroom options that can sleep four. Regardless, each lodge is spacious and well-equipped, essential for those arriving by train.
Transport Links
There are two railway stations in Harlingen, one for the town and the other for the harbour, which is also the end of the short line to the larger city of Leeuwarden. From Leeuwarden, services are available to Amsterdam, the Hague and Groningen.

Directions to Campsite
Leave Harlingen station through the substantial stone building and turn left along Stationsweg. Turn left at the roundabout, crossing back over the railway line. Continue until a crossroads and turn right onto Prins Clausstraat, following the road around to the left at the end, passing by low rise apartments on either side of the street. After 2-3 minutes walking, you should see a footpath on your right – look out for the red and white barriers. This path crosses the sports fields and eventually takes you out alongside the coast road and the dykes holding back the North Sea. Turn left down this road until you reach the campsite entrance on your left.
