Donaupark Camping, Klosterneuburg
In der Au 1, 3400 Klosterneuburg, Austria
https://www.campingklosterneuburg.at/app/de/camping
Campsite
Ideally situated – less than 15 kilometres from the centre of Vienna – Klosterneuburg is a destination in its own right. The town is home to a significant modern art museum – the Albertina Klosterneuburg – as well as a historic centre and an imposing Augustinian monastery. Donaupark Camping occupies an ideal location, just a 10 minute walk from the town centre. There is a large sports complex opposite the campsite with a large indoor swimming pool. 10 minutes further along, there’s a large outside swimming pool alongside the Donau. The campsite has its own restaurant and a small shop, although the larger Spar – only 5 minutes away – is perhaps a better option for groceries.

Accommodation Options
The campsite is mainly set up for those bringing their own tents and caravans. However, the good news is that the campsite also has 6 fully equipped mobile homes. These come with 2-4 beds and can be booked directly through the campsite.
Transport Links
Klosterneuburg-Kierling station is on the S-Bahn regional railway line S40. This runs from Vienna’s Franz-Josefs-Bahnhof to Sankt Pölten. There are rail connections – both nationally and internationally – from Vienna’s main stations as well as from Sankt Pölten running into Germany, Switzerland, Italy and the Czech Republic.

Directions to Campsite
Reaching the campsite could not be easier, as it’s a mere 100 metres away. Leave the station on the eastern side and descend down to the main road, turn right and carry on across a bridge spanning a dual carriageway and river. At the point the road splits in two, you’ll see an entrance path straight in front of you that leads into the campsite.

Aktiv Kamp Purgstall
Augasse 8, 3251 Purgstall an der Erlauf, Austria
Campsite
Purgstall is a small town of about 5,000 people on the Erlauf River. It offers a small number of restaurants, shops and a bakery in the centre. Just north of the centre, there are also a couple of supermarkets, perfect for those camping. In the town, and only 10 minutes from the campsite, there is a very good open-air swimming pool with its own 50 metre water slide.
On the campsite, there are also some basic facilities: a small restaurant and the option to order bread each morning. However, as the town is so close, it is just as easy to go there for breakfast supplies.

Accommodation Options
The campsite has plenty of touring pitches, but also a few self-catering accommodation options. There are several wooden chalets on site. Each are formed of a single large room containing a double bed and a set of bunk beds. A basic kitchen is in the room, but for the bathroom, guests need to use the main campsite facilities. There is also one larger chalet onsite that contains separate bedrooms and a bathroom in the accommodation. All bookings can be made through the campsite website.
Transport Links
Purgstall is on the Erlauf railway which runs from Pöchlarn in the north to Scheibbs, the current southerly terminus. Some of the services extend beyond Pöchlarn to Sankt Pölten, from where there are connections to Vienna as well as further afield into Germany, Switzerland and Poland.
ÖBB train station info: https://bahnhof.oebb.at/de/niederoesterreich/purgstall

Directions to Campsite
It is only a four minute walk from the campsite to Purgstall railway station. Exit the station, turn right and follow the road for a few minutes until reaching a level crossing. Once across the railway tracks, immediately turn left down a smaller road. After a large bend, you’ll then see the campsite entrance on the right.
