Campsite

Wesercamping is situated on the edge of the small town of Höxter, which is home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site abbey, a medieval town hall and a host other historic buildings in the centre. There are many walking options through the woods and hills that surround the town – many of these are listed on the Tourist Office’s website.

There are plenty of eating options in Höxter, as well as several Supermarkets. In the town centre, there is a good-sized indoor swimming pool with lanes, but even better for campsite guests is the town’s outdoor swimming pool, nestled right alongside the camping ground. This provides a lovely way to spend a warm afternoon, before returning back to the grassy campsite and the Weser River that flows next to it.

Accommodation Options

The campsite has a small number of self-catering options available. There are three small single-bedroom cabins that can sleep four at a push. Two larger four person cabins are possibly a better option. Each of these contains a sofa bed and single beds. Bedding can be hired on site if required. To book, you can either phone the campsite or complete an online enquiry form – all details on the campsite’s website.

Transport Links

Höxter’s main station, named Höxter Rathaus Bahnhof, is about one kilometre or a 15 minute walk from the campsite. The station is on the railway line from Paderborn to Holzminden with some services running on further to Kreiensen. From there, it’s possible to change for trains to Hannover and Göttingen.

Directions to Campsite

Turn right on leaving the station to the end of the road and take the bridge over both the railway and river. Once over the bridge, and just before reaching a petrol station, you’ll see a small set of stairs on the right that descend down to a treelined path. All you then to do is to simply follow this path alongside the river until you reach the campsite entrance, passing as you walk a rowing club, outdoor swimming pool and sports centre.
